Three perfect gin cocktail and food pairings!
Have you ever wondered what foods go well with gin? Well, wonder no more because we have come up with three great food and gin cocktail pairing suggestions that are perfect for enjoying this summer and beyond.
Inspired by the sophisticated flavours in Luscombe Drinks’ amazing range of tasty beverages (one of which we featured in our gin-credible Gin of the Month box for August 2021), we have come up with three cocktail recipes and have provided you with the food pairing suggestions to go with them so that you can have more than few gin-credible nights in.
Take a look but be warned, these cocktail and food pairing suggestions may make you very hungry and thirsty!
Lemon & Herb Highball
50ml gin - we recommend La Distillerie De Monaco Gin for its Mediterranean flare
100ml Luscombe Organic Sicilian Lemonade
2 sage leaves, plus extra to garnish
2 dashes orange bitters (optional)
Lemon slices, to garnish
Add all your ingredients to a highball glass with ice and stir to combine. Garnish and serve.
What foods go well with this gin cocktail?
As the two key ingredients in this cocktail are gin and Luscombe Organic Sicilian Lemonade, which is made with lemons grown on Sicily’s Mount Etna, this tipple is perfect for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine.
Think pasta, salads and your favourite tapas dishes and you can’t go far wrong - olives, herbs and garlic go so well with the delicious lemon flavours in this cocktail. But also think about North African dishes like tagines, grilled meats from the barbecue and couscous - all are friends to this fabulous gin and lemon cocktail.
Why not make a grazing board with all of your favourite Mediterranean foods on? That has to be one of the best ways to make any gin and food lover happy!
Raspberry Cooler Crush
This gin and raspberry cocktail recipe has a perfect balance of sweet, tart berry notes and delightfully mellow vanilla aromas. The delicate bubbles and fantastic raspberry flavours of Luscombe Organic Raspberry Crush complement the juniper of the gin wonderfully and the lime juice adds a fragrant kick of citrus.
50ml gin - Three Wrens Raspberry Moderna Cask Finish Gin will give you even more raspberry tones
10ml vanilla syrup
10ml lime juice
75ml Luscombe Organic Raspberry Crush
Raspberries, to garnish
Add your first three ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and give them a quick shake. Strain into a highball glass filled with (preferably) crushed ice and top up with Luscombe Organic Raspberry Crush. Garnish and serve.
What foods go well with this gin cocktail?
With its fruity, berry-licious flavour profile this cocktail is the perfect partner to red meat, game, smoked foods and sumptuous soft cheeses like camembert or Brie.
Those raspberry flavours will cut through the rich, smokey, fat of anything from a barbecue but will also do very well with game terrine and duck or chicken liver pate.
If all that sounds like too much effort, we recommend simply having a decedent night in the garden with your Raspberry Cooler Crush and a good cheeseboard.
Rose Spritz
Luscombe Organic Damascene Rose Bubbly, with its effervescent mix of rose, grape and Sicilian lemon tones, makes this gin and white wine cocktail truly special. It goes magnificently with the complex flavour profile of the gin and the crisp, refreshing palate of the white wine. The lemon peel then gives the cocktail an added fragrance that will keep you coming back for more.
25ml gin
75ml white wine
75ml Luscombe Organic Damascene Rose Bubbly
Lemon peel, to garnish
Add all your ingredients to a wine glass with ice and stir. Garnish and serve.
What foods go well with this gin cocktail?
This gentle gin, Luscombe Organic Damascene Rose Bubbly and white wine cocktail is soft and delicate. However, it is also full of aromatic and exciting floral flavours. Those two delectable attributes make it ideal for serving with seafood and light bites.
Whip up your favourite canapes, grill some white fish like haddock or seabass, or pan sear fresh scallops in butter and you will have a gorgeous marriage of flavours between cocktail and cuisine.
Our mouths are watering at the through of all these tasty treats!
What makes Luscombe Drinks so special?
Luscombe’s organic drinks, juices and mixers are made in small batches in Devon, using the absolute best raw organic and wild ingredients blended with Dartmoor spring water. They’ve been awarded 78 Great Taste awards by the Guild of Fine Food and have been granted a Royal Warrant after years of being enjoyed at tea parties at the Royal Palaces. One of our favourite editions in the Luscombe range is Luscombe Organic Sicilian Lemonade, which we sent to Craft Gin Club members in their July 2021 Gin of the Month box. It is amazing with gin in the cocktail above or simply used as an alternative to tonic water. Give it a go in our July Cocktail of the Month, Craft Gin Club’s Peach Gin Iced Tea.
