When the weather starts to get warmer, we love nothing more than whipping up this ice-cold Strawberry Jam & Gin Daiquiri cocktail recipe. It’s sweet and creamy and boozy in all of the right places!
Yes, we know daiquiris are traditionally made with rum, sugar and lime, but this creamy, ginny version is a must-try for any cocktail connoisseur - it’s like strawberries and cream in cocktail form, with the addition of that zesty lime that’s so quintessential to any daiquiri. Yum!
For the gin, we recommend WhataHoot Hushwing Gin, Craft Gin Club’s May 2023 Gin of the Month. It was originally made just for Craft Gin Clubbers and it has a delicious mix of bright citrus tones complemented by savoury hints of sea samphire and juniper.
The gin is a fantastic match for the fragrant berry tones of the jam and the zesty lime juice.
By adding the cream you get a silky, thick, creamy texture that is heavenly. Of course, non-dairy alternatives to cream can be used in this recipe - oat milk works great!
The only additional task this recipe requires of you is to make jam syrup - this helps the jam flavours incorporate into the cocktail so you can get the most out of such a delicious ingredient.
To make your strawberry jam syrup, combine equal parts jam and boiling water. Stir to combine to dissolve the jam as much as possible. Allow to cool and fine strain the mixture before using.
Strawberry Jam & Gin Daiquiri
60ml WhataHoot Hushwing Gin
25ml lime juice
20ml strawberry jam syrup
5ml Simple Syrup
100ml single cream
Strawberry, to garnish
Add all your ingredients, except your garnish, to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well and fine strain into a highball glass, large tumbler or jam jar with ice. Garnish, serve and enjoy!
