Nothing says Christmas like lots of chocolate and cocktails!
Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without lots of chocolates and cocktails. That’s why we just had to send our wonderful members a bar of Gnaw Winter Wonder Milk Chocolate in their December 2020 Gin of the Month box. Its delectable mix of milk chocolate, shortbread biscuit and sweet cranberries and raisins has us salivating. We think it goes so well with our Old Tom Old Fashioned cocktail recipe.
And that’s not the only fabulously festive chocolate bar from Gnaw that we think works great with gin cocktails. Check out these gin-credible pairings!
Old Tom Old Fashioned and Gnaw’s Winter Wonder Milk Chocolate
Traditionally a whisky cocktail recipe, an Old Fashioned is deceptively simple to make and relies on the quality of its ingredients. For our ginny version of this recipe, we are swapping whisky for Old Tom, London Dry Gin’s sweeter, softer older sibling. The golden sugar syrup then adds beautiful caramel tones that you would usually find in bourbon and which work so well with the shortbread biscuit pieces in the Gnaw bar. A dash or two of Angostura Bitters then add a festive touch of spice that perfectly compliments that gorgeous mix of dried fruit and milk chocolate. Delicious!
Ingredients
50ml Old Tom
5ml golden sugar syrup
2 dashes of Angostura Aromatic Bitters
Slice of orange, to garnish
Method
For the golden sugar syrup: Combine 100g of golden sugar with 100ml of water and stir over a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Leave to cool before using.
Add the gin, syrup and bitters to a shaker or large glass and stir. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass and garnish. Enjoy!
Strawberry & Sloe Gin Daiquiri and Gnaw’s Snowberry Drift White Chocolate
Gnaw Snowberry Drift White Chocolate is a delectable mix of white chocolate, strawberry and honeycomb. Those rich tones are perfect for pairing with a refreshingly chilled and fruity cocktail like our Strawberry & Sloe Gin Daiquiri. Those well-rounded berry tones and that touch of tart lime is ideal for balancing out the rich, sweetness of the chocolate bar. They are a yummy combo!
Ingredients
50ml sloe gin
Juice of half a lime
250g strawberries, topped
100g crushed ice
Method
Blend your ingredients together and pour into a glass, garnish and serve!

Super slab by name, super slab by nature, Gnaw’s Millionaire’s Shortbread Milk Chocolate Super Slab has everything you love about Millionaire’s Shortbread in one gin-credible slab of chocolate! We are googly-eyed over its delicious combination of white chocolate curls, crunchy toffee and shortbread pieces atop a huge piece of caramel chocolate. To go with this tasty treat, it must be our fabulous Gin Eggnog! It’s a creamy, silky-smooth mix of gin, caramel, triple sec, egg and cream liqueur that is divine. It’s as though these two tasty treats were made to go together!
Ingredients
30ml gin
20ml Cointreau
20ml Amarula Cream Liqueur

1 heaped teaspoon of caramel sauce (available at most major supermarkets)
Method
Add your ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously (without ice). Then pour over ice and add a twist of orange rind or a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg to garnish. For an extra-special addition, garnish with whipped cream, caramel sauce and some festive spices.
Jockey Club and Gnaw’s Cranberry & Almond Dark Chocolate Super Slab

We think there’s no better match for winter flavours of Gnaw’s Cranberry & Almond Dark Chocolate Super Slab. Its incredibly smooth and luxurious dark chocolate is laden with roasted almond nuts, tangy dried cranberries and crunchy pumpkin seeds. Yum!
