Fans of Friends and gin, this is the quiz for you!
The Friends reunion show is due to air on HBO Max and on Netflix in the UK on Thursday, May 27th and we can’t wait to sit and catch up with Monica, Rachel, Joey, Pheobe, Chandler and Ross again over a G&T or two.
In the meantime, we have this fun Friends quiz. All that you have to do is tells us which character from the TV show you think would be your best gin pal in real life and we’ll tell you which cocktail you should make for them when they come over to your place for a good chin-wag.
Don't worry if it hasn't been your day, your week, your month or even your year, this quiz is sure to bring a smile to your face like only Friends and gin can!
Chandler
Could he be any funnier? The self-deprecating and pessimistic yet always lovable joker of the group, Chandler Bing’s witty quips and stories about his often misadventures in love (before he started dating Monica, of course) would make him a great gin pal!
Monica
Monica Geller’s amazing cooking abilities would make her an amazing gin pal - as long as she doesn’t try and put the turkey on her head again! Just think of all of the amazing cocktail snacks she could whip for us to enjoy as we sip away at our favourite tipple and natter about our favourite cleaning products and recipes.
Ross
If palaeontology, experimental music and pet monkeys are your thing then Ross Geller is your man. Goofy, endearing and always a romantic, he’d be full of hilarious tales about growing up with Monica, his sister, and his best friend Chandler - cue a flashback to those amazing days of huge hair-dos, stunning outfits and that time Monica chopped off Chandler’s toe!
Rachel
A fashionista and a “creative” cook (let’s say her trifle got mixed reviews), Rachel Green is relentlessly stylish. She knows all of the most trendy shops to take you to when it’s your turn to visit her in New York and she may even take you sailing one day!
Joey
Always a hit with the ladies, actor Joey Tribbiani is a New York deli sandwich and pizza aficionado. He can teach you how to perfect his iconic ‘Hey, how you doin’?’ line as you wait for your food to arrive in your easy chairs. Just don’t mess with any of his sisters or try to share his food - Joey doesn’t share food!
Phoebe
Phoebe Buffay is the zany one of the group, and definitely the one with the most interesting history. Hopefully, she will share some of her stories and let you have a play with her guitar. She may even teach you Smelly Cat or how to speak French as you chat away with a gin drink in hand - yes, please!
Bonus option: Gunther!
The unsung hero of many an episode, Gunther has played witness to almost all of the group’s ups and downs at the iconic cafe he runs, Central Perk (where Rachel even worked for a time). We bet he has the best insights into the group and will definitely know how to make a great coffee.
Which cocktail will you be having with your new friend?
If you picked Chandler then it has to be something a little flamboyant, with a touch of salt and wit, like our Gingarita - it’s the perfect ginny version of the classic Margarita!
We know Monica likes a Scotch on the rocks, so we think she would love a Negroni. Just like a Scotch, it’s short, clean, dark and rich!
Let’s keep Ross away from the Margaritas, we all know what happened when he found out Joey and Rachel were dating. Instead, let’s go for something with similar lime notes and a bit of history. It has to be a Gimlet for Ross!
With Rachel’s interest in fashion, we bet she would love a good ginny version of the classic Cosmopolitan. It’s stylish, fruity and oh-so-delicious! With this cocktail, Rachel would also be in the company of another famous New York fashionista, Carry Bradshaw - it is her cocktail of choice after all!
Joey needs a unique showstopping cocktail that will attract the ladies. Teach him this Red Wine Gin Sour - Gin, good. Wine, good. Cocktail, amazing!
We think Phoebe would love a cocktail that’s connected to her love of the French language and which also has a bit of va-va-vroom to it. Our French Kiss recipe would be perfect!
What could be more perfectly suited to Gunther then a classic Espresso Martini. Maybe one day you can visit Central Perk and he can rustle one up for you on the sofa there!
