You cannot beat a classic gin cocktail! Once you have perfected the classics, of course, you can start adding your own twists on them - try adding honey to a French 75, for example, or cherry brandy to a Negroni!

Craft Gin Club’s January 2020 Gin of the Month, the wonderful Altitude Gin, adds a touch of fresh pine and delicate citrus notes to classic cocktails. Give them a go and see the difference the unique alpine botanicals of this smooth spirit make to your usual tipple!

Martini

75ml Altitude Gin
25ml vermouth
Lemon zest or olives, to garnish

Fill a mixing glass with ice and add your gin and vermouth. stir until combined and the outside of the glass is chilled, then strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish. For an extra dirty martini, add a splash of the olive brine.


Negroni

25ml Altitude Gin
25ml Campari
25ml vermouth rosso
Orange peel, to garnish

Add ice to an Old Fashioned glass, followed by the gin, campari and vermouth. Stir until combined and chilled, add your garnish and serve.


Gin Mule

Crushed ice
50ml Altitude Gin
12ml fresh lemon juice
150ml ginger beer
Blueberries, redcurrants and a lemon wedge to garnish

Fill a cup with crushed ice. Add gin and lime juice, then top up with ginger beer. Give the drink a little stir and garnish with berries and lemon wedge.


French 75

Altitude Gin and fresh lemon juice

50ml Altitude Gin
25ml fresh lemon juice
25ml honey simple syrup
Chilled sparkling wine to top up
Lemon twist to garnish

Add the gin, lemon juice and honey simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a champagne flute and top up with sparkling wine. Garnish and serve.
