How is Gin YVY Mar made?

Gin YVY is made by British Master Distiller Darren Rook at YVY Distilaria, a Brazilian distillery founded by André Sá Fortes. To create Gin YVY Mar, the YVY Distilaria team take inspiration from the wave of immigrants that make up Brazil’s cultural fabric, using botanicals from across Brazil in order to really capture the essence of the country.

For example, kombu seaweed was chosen in honour of Brazil’s huge Japanese community and almond for Brazil’s community of immigrants from the Arabian peninsula.

Gin YVY Mar’s full list of botanicals includes juniper, coriander, almond, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, liquorice, angelica, iris, lemon, orange and kombu seaweed.

What does “YVY” mean?

“Yvy” is a Tupi-Guarani word, one of Brazil’s indigenous languages, which means “the ground we walk on”.

Where is Gin YVY Mar made?

Gin YVY Mar, along with all of the gins in YVY distillery’s range, is distilled at YVY Distilaria in Belo Horizonte, a luscious city in the north of Brazil.

What does Gin YVY Mar taste like?

Bright and citrus-forward, Gin YVY Mar is balanced with warm, sweet spice flavours like cardamom and cinnamon across the nose and palate. The finish is then long and delightfully elegant.

How do you serve Gin YVY Mar?
