Apricot brandy is the secret ingredient in this warming gin cocktail!
Something about the cold, dark nights of winter calls for bold, warming tipples, right? This classic cocktail, the Boston, combines deliciously sweet apricot brandy and fruity grenadine with smooth, dry gin and a little sharp citrus to take the edge off the sweetness.
As well as being incredibly easy to make (there are only four ingredients, folks), it’s clean, warming and oh-so-tasty; the perfect drink to curl up with in front of the fire!
Boston Cocktail
40ml gin
30ml apricot brandy (or to taste)
10ml grenadine*
20ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
Cocktail cherry or apricot slice, to garnish
Shake all your ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice until really cold. Strain into your chilled cocktail glass, garnish with a cherry or slice of apricot and serve. Feel free to adjust the ratio of sweet apricot brandy to suit your preferences!
*Grenadine is a pomegranate syrup that can be bought in the shops and online. Alternatively, make your own by gently simmering 200ml pomegranate juice with 100ml water and approx. 25ml freshly squeezed lemon juice over a low heat, stirring occasionally, until a lovely pink syrup has formed!
