5 ways to support the one foundation...and one includes drinking more gin!
Every morning, almost 900 million people around the world wake up without easy access to something we here in the UK take for granted: safe, clean water. This month meet the One Gin team, behind our March Gin of the Month as they turn their love for gin into a force for good –and find out how your next G&T can help bring clean water to the world’s most deprived communities.
“We’re tantalisingly close,” says Vic Steward Todd, deputy director of The One Foundation. “To date we’ve raised £19.3 million and, with your help, we can hit our target in 2019 – a year early – which would be incredible.” Here are five ways to help The One Foundation eliminate water poverty, for good.
1 Drink more gin!
Yes, really! Every bottle of One Sage Gin (which is available at John Lewis & Partners, selected Tesco stores and thespiritofone.com) and One Sage & Apple Gin sold means more money for The One Foundation and the life-changing work they do in deprived communities. One Gin donates 10% of their profits directly to the foundation, so every sip that you take gets this great foundation closer to their goals.
2 Donate to Craft Gin Club’s JustGiving page… and we’ll match your contribution!
Craft Gin Club is so proud to support The One Foundation’s amazing work, and we want to do more! That’s why we’ve set up a JustGiving page, where our members can donate directly to The One Foundation and all their fantastic work.
Even better, at the end of the month we’ll match the donations our members make up to £10,000, giving The One Foundation an extra boost. Let’s do this, Craft Gin Clubbers!
3 Try the 5 Litre Challenge
If you’re keen to do more to support the fight against water poverty, Vic suggests undertaking the 5 litre challenge. Have your friends and family sponsor your efforts to live on just 5 litres of water for 24 hours – that’s got to include all your washing, cooking and, of course, drinking water.
“It really rings home how much we take a reliable, safe water supply for granted,” Vic says.
4 Get Social
For those of us who live to host, there are so many ways to make your next party pay – for The One Foundation, that is!
Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, a gin cocktail evening or an early BBQ, you can adapt any kind of get-together into a cracking fundraising evening. Ask your friends to donate to a custom JustGiving page, set up a piggy bank by the bar cart or even sponsor one another in a high-energy dance-off. If everyone gives a little, The One Foundation ends up with a lot!
5 Come Together
Got a tight group of friends, colleagues or even acquaintances from the school gates? Why not band together to make a bigger difference than you could manage alone?
Use the recipes on pages 38 and 40 to organise a tasty bake sale or train together for a marathon or cycling challenge – and get all your friends to sponsor your efforts! The more people we can all bring together, the sooner we can end water poverty all over the world.
