Cocktail of the Week: Southwest Side
With a couple of fromer professional bartenders on the team - one of them an award-winning mixologist - it's no surprise that The West Winds Gin have designed their spirits not only to taste great on their own, but also to work really well in cocktails.
The Southwest Side - named in honour of The West Wind Gin's home in Margaret River at the southwestern tip of Australia - is a deliciously simple recipe that echoes the maritime spirit of The Sabre. As the team says: “We live in the beach culture so it is only natural we add a little bit of salt, which lifts the whole drink.”
Southwest Side
60ml The West Winds Sabre Gin
15ml lemon juice
15ml lime juice
15ml sugar syrup
Pinch of salt
10 mint leaves - slapped!
Stir all together in a cocktail tin and pour into a tall glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.
